During a segment with MSNBC's David Schuster, Nation contributor Ari Melber challenges J.P. Freire's assertion that criticism directed at John McCain--for his campaign's malicious insinuations and encouragement of hate speech--is only an attempt by Democrats to play the race card. Melber pointed to senior-level Republicans such as former Michigan governor William Milliken, who has expressed disappointment with McCain's increasingly negative campaign, and Ed Rollins to demonstrate that as John McCain's poll numbers and tactics sink to new lows, even members of his own party have started distancing themselves from his campaign.
