Lawrence Weschler, winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for Everything That Rises: A Book of Convergences (McSweeney’s), is the director of NYU’s Institute for the Humanities and the artistic director of the Chicago Humanities Festival, whose theme this November will be “The Climate of Concern.”
