Right-Wing Trolls Mock Clinton Hostage Situation

posted by Max Blumenthal on 11/30/2007 @ 4:32pm

As the hostage situation at Hillary headquarters in New Hampshire unfolds, right-wing message boards like Free Republic are lighting up with sarcastic, conspiratorial, and even celebratory commentary.

Many Freepers joked that the hostage taker, a man claiming to have a bomb, was really a Clinton "plant." A few examples of conservative "humor:"

The vile Freeper commentary continues on and on, and grows progressively more revealing of the pathology of the Republican base. The tone of commenters over at Politico is no less despicable. But according to Joe Lieberman flack and Politico contributor Dan Gerstein, left-wing bloggers are the ones who need "some adult supervision."

Update: Media Matters for America has jumped into the fray, asking: "After previously highlighting comments on progressive blogs, will media cover hateful comments on Free Republic about NH hostage situation?" MMFA has much, much more, including screen captures of Freepers gone wild.

  1. Mr Blumenthal,

Given the loathing of Her Nibs by the Left....you think this kind of stuff is going to remain exclusive to the Right for long?

I'd pop over to a Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy blog and check first!

BTW, RIO, I agree with you on New England states....so if the election comes down to a guy from Massachusetts (Romney) or a guy from New York (Giuliani)...or a woman from the Midwest (Illinois), spent her life in Arkansas (HRC), or a guy also from the Midwest (Obama), or a guy from the South (Edwards)...

Do you wake up saying "I will not publicly humiliate myself today", only to see that doomed promise turned to ashes with your first half witted utterance? Do you really think anyone here regards your posts as more than tragic comedy, a grisly pileup of clown cars? I am amazed that you possess the dexterity and cognitive capacity to even turn on your computer, unfortunately, said cognitive capacity falls quite short of allowing you to type even one thing that could be regarded by anyone, anywhere as a cogent, rational thought. then consider the fact that indeed since the stolen election of 2000, we non con-tards have had to listen to these obnoxious lackwits repeat their stupid, evil lies and have watched our country slide toward stupid/fear enabled fascism...all the while subjected to the taunting derision of these coulteresque fascism enablers...who have on their hands the blood of uncounted innocents and the waste of treasury as a result of their stupidity and partisan wickedness...

they deserve a hell of a lot worse than my and my mob's bile and ridicule...and indeed to respond to their stupid wickedness with decency and forebearance...would be indecent and seen by them not as a sign of decency but a weakness to be taken advantage of.

thats how evil works. bright or dim, there comes a point where one ceases being decent and calls a stupid, evil facist spade a stupid, evil fascist spade.

and i hope i do hurt their feelings...they deserve worse.

How interesting that the lie-followers will insinuate a lesbian affair (is this just the manly man fixation with girl-on-girl action from the Family Values crowd?) but not be able to put the correct names in place. Of course it should read:

"Does anybody know where Hillary and Mary Cheney (Cheney's, er Satans, favorite daughter) are at the moment?".

RIO, why is it that you guys are so afraid of lesbians, but completely incapable of accepting the existence of Mary? Other than Barney Frank and Mark Foley, wouldn't she be the most famous Biblical abhoration to come out of Washington DC?

ENTROPY, remember, RIO claims to be an "independent" Can't you just feel it in his posts?

It makes quite literally, zero sense.

Get used to it, he hears something on the radio and shows up here to repeat what he thinks he heard.

I think maybe this nutjob hostage taker misheard as well. The accent was too thick over the phone and he heard "Take Hillary some , instead of the Midwestern accent...flowers".

Since the 70's came to an end, has there been a "left-wing" act of terror in this country resulting in death or serious injury? According to the pants shitting fear filled sheep, I think it about time our troops invade the red states and finally remove the threat to peace and freedom these nutjobs represent.

US NEWS and WORLD REPORT--In the 10 years since the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing killed 168 people, roughly 60 right-wing terrorist plots have been uncovered in the United States, according to an upcoming report by the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Project. The plots, all foiled by law enforcement, reportedly included violent plans by antigovernment militia groups, racist skinhead organizations, and Ku Klux Klan members to use various types of chemical bombs and other weapons.

The plots demonstrate that the Department of Homeland Security still needs to closely monitor right-wing groups, says Heidi Beirich, with the Intelligence Project. The DHS was criticized by hate-group experts in April when an internal planning document on domestic terrorist threats was leaked to the press. The DHS report listed radical leftist groups, such as the Animal Liberation Front and the Earth Liberation Front, which have been involved in numerous arson cases, but not violent right-wing militia and skinhead groups.

...April 10, 2003: The FBI raided the home of William Krar, of Noonday, Texas, and discovered an arsenal of more than 500,000 rounds of ammunition, 65 pipe bombs and remote control briefcase bombs, and almost 2 pounds of sodium cyanide, enough to make a bomb that could kill everyone in a large building. Krar, reportedly associated with white supremacist groups, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for possession of a chemical weapon.

This last example happened in the days leading up to the invasion of Iraq, which the RIO crowd will tell us was to prevent the spread of chemical weapons of mass destruction. I am willing to bet almost none of you heard about it. I find that more than just a bit odd, don't ya'll? That the US is getting ready to invade another country because of terrorism, but the DHS does not publicize the capture of a homegrown terrorist cell. Why wouldn't Ashcroft have been all over the air like he was with the feared Dirty Bomber Who Wasn't?

  37. From an evil socialist website, based on a Congressional Quarterly report:

Under a section marked "Threat and Vulnerability Assessment," the document asks and answers the question, "Who are the adversaries?" This includes Al Qaeda and its affiliates, both overseas and within the United States. The only other domestic threat specifically noted is from so-called "eco-terrorists," who "will continue to focus their attacks on property damage in an effort to change policy." The document claims that although "publicly ALF and ELF promote nonviolence toward human life . . . some members may escalate their attacks."

It is remarkable that there is no mention of the anti-abortion, militia, racist and homophobic groups that do not "publicly ... promote nonviolence," but rather openly advocate the killing of blacks, gays, abortion providers and government workers. Moreover, these groups have acted on their words.

Fascist, racist and anti-abortion groups are responsible for nearly all the terrorist attacks in the United States--with the exception of September 11, 2001--over the past two decades. These include the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, which killed 168 people, as well as bombings of abortion clinics and assassination of abortion providers, and multiple cases of individual rampages, like that of Benjamin Smith, who went on a killing spree directed at blacks, Jews and immigrants in 1999.

In several of the mass shootings at US high schools, including the two worst cases, at Columbine High School in 2000 and at Red Lake High School in rural Minnesota last month, the youth who carried out the murder-suicides were influenced by neo-Nazi propaganda which they accessed on the Internet.

The existence of a sizeable support network for right-wing terrorists is indicated by the ability of Eric Rudolph, who carried out bombings at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and at abortion clinics in Atlanta and Birmingham, Alabama, to stay on the loose for more than five years. Captured in 2003 in rural North Carolina, Rudolph accepted a plea bargain last month which lifted the threat of execution and allowed him to remain silent on how and by whom he was sustained during his years on the run.

  39. Thanks for the heads up Max. I was directed here by BuzzFlash and have seen your YouTube videos and is how I became acquainted with who you are.

I will never understand Republicans. They are anti-American and inhumane to say the very least. Sadistic in nature they thrive off the pain of others while supporting Bush's anti-terrorism stance and good enough reason to go to war. But let it happen to a Democrat and they rally for the terrorist bomber and hostage taker and at the very least, mock it's authenticity. Republicans are cruel sick and twisted individuals, about 51% of the voters if the voting machines weren't rigged I'd think that was true but, since they are rigged there is really no way of knowing how many of these psychotic sociopaths we are actually dealing with since they seem to have this special ability to have more votes than voters.

Ever try to beat a video game on Expert settings? Knowing they have the ability to rig voting machines, I suggest everyone fill out a paper ballot because these Republicans are the lowest of low and the scum of the Earth. They are the parasite on the ass of the world.

GET OUT AND VOTE! ON PAPER BALLOTS! DEMAND IT OR HAVE ONE MAILED TO YOU!

  40. Maybe the invasion wasn't about WMDs, maybe it was about LGBT's...

Qom, Iran--Lesbians and gay men "should be killed in the worst, most severe way of killing" according to a March 15 fatwa, or legal pronouncement, issued by Grand Ayatollah Ali al Sistani.

Sistani issued the fatwa when asked, "What is the judgment for sodomy and lesbianism?" Sistani replied, "Forbidden. Punished, in fact, killed. The people involved should be killed in the worst, most severe way of killing."

According to the British LGBT group OutRage, Sistani's pronouncement will worsen conditions for gay, lesbian, and transgender Iraqis, who already face increasing persecution since the U.S. invasion elevated the power of the Shi'a majority.

The Badr Corps militia, which is the armed wing of Sistani's Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution, has been increasingly "witch hunting" lesbian and gay Iraqis, and using violence, beatings, kidnappings and assassinations to enforce Sistani's interpretation of Shari'ah, or divine Islamic law.

Similar to what is occurring in Iran, the Badr are using internet chat rooms to entrap gay men.

Men who remain unmarried by age 30 or who are effeminate are put under surveillance by the Badr, on suspicion that they might be gay. The men are told that they have one month to change their ways and provide proof that they plan to marry a woman.

Those who don't usually disappear and are typically found dead later, blindfolded, hands bound behind their back, and shot execution-style in the back of the head.

The Badr use similar tactics to intimidate and terrorize Sunnis, moderate Shi'a, trade unionists, women's rights activists and secularists.

sounds like our friends in Focus on the Family have some supporters amongst the Jihadists.

    Shocking, no?

During the program, a rambling sermon by Swaggart who is trying to rehabilitate himself after an arrest for soliciting a prostitute, the televangelist turned to the subject of gay marriage.

According to a transcript of the program, Swaggart said: "I'm trying to find the correct name for it ... this utter absolute, asinine, idiotic stupidity of men marrying men. ... I've never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry. And I'm gonna be blunt and plain; if one ever looks at me like that, I'm gonna kill him and tell God he died."

The remarks were met with applause from his congregation.

The program was taped at Swaggart's ministry in New Orleans where voters Saturday agreed to amend the Louisiana constitution to bar same-sex marriage.

The CRTC investigation was prompted by a complaint by a viewer in Ottawa. It is not known if any complaints had been made in the US where the show appears on stations in all 50 states. A spokesperson for the FCC which regulates television in the US did not return calls for comment Sunday.

So, Janet Jackson gets TV broadcasters socked with multiple $25,000 fines for showing a doily on her titties, but Swaggart gets a free pass on killing gays.

    IM,

I will assume you meant to say doesn't instead of does.

    Given that premise, why would not conservatives be justified in our lack of respect for dangerous views such as those on the left;

    1. who deny the threat of terrorism (think Darladoon among others)?

    2. believe that infanticide is a normal lifestyle option?

    3. believe in totalitarian governments through socialist seizure of the wages and property of individuals/families?

    4. believe in denying individuals the right to choose their healthcare planning including whether to even participate in a healthcare plan?

    5. believe in respecting the right of individuals to worship God if they so desire without prejudice? (see Will C, Conshame, John Shaft and some others)

    6. Most importantly, believe in the right and dignity of individuals to hold political, social, philosophical, and scientific views/beliefs/opinions that are different from that of liberals?

Point 6 is especially noteworthy as conservatives seldom criticize liberals and leftists as not deserving the respect for the right to hold their views ( a few kooks aside-see Aludra and Frankshitz). And it must be noted that not all liberals and leftists believe that conservative philosophy is never to be respected as a legitimate opinion.

But many on this thread and elsewhere do hold extreme positions on conservatives.

Maybe we should have invaded Iraq in 2001 in the interests of homosexuals Crabs, because that's when Saddam, apart from previous persecutions of them, got fairdinkum and made homosexual practice a capital crime.

As you know the present generals are doing a magnificent job over there right now and that is one reason I've not offered my services. My expertise is not in gay and lesbian rights but yours clearly is, so why don't you get over there and do more than just talk about it?

After you read the following you could go and do your physical etc and be over there helping the cause almost before you could say, Crabs!.. Sir!:

    CRIMINAL CODE: Ba'athist

The authoritarian nature of the Ba'athist government makes it difficult to gather definitive information about what were the Ba'athist polices with regards to sexual orientation or gender identity.

In the United Nations, the Iraqi delegation cited religion, despite being a secular state at the time as their reasoning for opposing efforts to have the international body support gay rights.

Yet, homosexual practices between consenting adults in private were not officially made illegal in Iraq until 2001, when it was made a capital crime. Prior to that point, Iraqi gays and bisexuals who lived during the 1980s - 1990s have since reported that a Ba'athist crackdown on homosexuality and establishments known to function as gay bars took place in the 1990s.

This is also around the same time that the Ba'athist regime lost the first Persian Gulf War, and faced an uprising in northern and southern Iraq, and this crackdown may have been part of a larger attempt by the government to appeal to Sunni and Shiitee social conservatives as the early 1990s.

    CRIMINAL CODE: Post-Ba'athist

In 2003, Paul Bremer ordered that the Iraqi criminal code would revert back to its 1969 edition, while the Iraqi civil code would revert back to its 1972 edition. Bremer did not address the Iraqi religious courts of personal status. While the criminal code does not explicitly deal with homosexuality or cross-dressing, it does contain provisions that could be used to punish such practices.

Some news reports about the legal status of homosexuality in Iraq had asserted that Paragraph 111 legalizes the practice of honor killings. However, the practice was expressly prohibited in the Iraqi criminal code prior to the 1990s.

Paragraph 215 - Any person who produces, imports, exports or obtains a picture, written material or sign with intent to trade, distribute, display or exhibit such material, which, by its nature, endangers the public security or brings the country into disrepute unless he was acting in good faith is punishable by detention plus a fine not exceeding 300 Dinars or by one of those penalties

Chapter 7 Section 7 Paragraph 368 - Any person who willfully commits an act which spreads a dangerous disease that endangers the lives of others is punishable by a period of detention not exceeding 3 years. The punishment is 1 year if it is ruled to be accidental.

Chapter 8 Section 4 Paragraph 376 - Any person who obtains a marriage certificate knowing it to be invalid for any reason in secular or canonical law and any person who issues such certificate knowing the marriage to be invalid is punishable by a term of imprisonment not exceeding 7 years or by detention.

Chapter 8 Section 3 Paragraph 401 - Any person who commits an immodest act in public is punishable by a period of detention not exceeding 6 months plus a fine not exceeding 50 dinars or by one of those penalties.

Chapter 8 Section 3 Paragraph 402 - (a) Any person who makes indecent advances to another man or woman shall be punished by a period of detention not exceeding 3 months plus a fine not exceeding 30 dinars. The penalty will be a period of detention not exceeding 6 months plus a fine not exceeding 100 dinars if the offender, having been previously convicted for such offense, re offends within a year of the date of such conviction.

Chapter 8 Paragraph 403 - Any person who produces, imports, publishes, possesses, obtains or translates a book, printed or other written material, drawing, picture, film, symbol or other thing that violates the public integrity or decency with intent to exploit or distribute such material is punishable by a period of detention not exceeding 2 years plus a fine not exceeding 200 dinars or by one of those penalties. Also applies to those people that advertise such material or media.

Chapter 8 Paragraph 404 - Any person who himself or through some mechanical means sings or broadcasts in a public place obscene or indecent songs or statements is punishable by a period of detention not exceeding 1 year or by a fine not exceeding 100 dinars.

Paragraph 434 - Insult is the imputation to another of something dishonorable or disrespectful or the hurting of his feelings even though it does not include an imputation to him of a particular matter. Any person who insults another is punishable by a period of detention not exceeding 1 year plus a fine not exceeding 100 dinars.

Paragraph 438 - The following persons are punishable by a period of detention not exceeding 1 year plus a fine not exceeding 100 dinars or by one of those penalties: (1) Any person who publishes in any way a picture, remark or information in respect of the private or family life of another, even though such information is true and such publication causes him offense.

Paragraph 501 - Any person who washes themselves in a city, town or village in an indecent manner or appears in a public place in an indecent state of undress is punishable by a period of detention not exceeding 10 days or by a fine not exceeding 5 Dinars.

    AND ***WHAT*** THEY WHINE...

Is that liberals and progressives aren't "playing fair." So, of course, what do WE nice-nellies always do when we hear this? Bend over backwards to play fair, of course. Meanwhile, the bullies are at it again....

Just to give you a couple of examples. If I were a Democratic politician, I wouldn't respond to Karl Rove's recent absurd assertions (and reassertions) that Congress somehow "rushed" Bush into invading Iraq. Instead of wimpy-ass responses like, "I'm not sure Mr. Rove remembers things entirely correctly," etc., know what I'd do?' The mistake the Dems ALWAYS make is to try to respond to Roves lies with RATIONAL ARGUMENTS. (It's the old aforementioned "We liberals must always play fair, now" syndrome.) So if I were that putative Democratic politician, here's what I'd do. EVERY time I referred to Karl Rove, it would be with the sobriquet "Turd Blossom." And whenever any mainstream media types pretended to get all tweaked-out by this, I'd just say, "Hey, 'Turd Blossom' is GEORGE BUSH'S KNICKNAME for Karl Rove."

Similarly, Dems are giving Rudy Giuliani a TOTAL PASS on his cross-dressing -- again, the old "we've gotta play fair" syndrome, it's a non-issue, etc., etc., etc. Well, I can guarantee you that if Giuliani were a DEMOCRATIC politician he would NOT be getting a pass on his cross-dressing either by the MSM or by the Republicans. So again, if I were said putative Democratic politician, I would always, always, always (as I do now in every post I make), refer to Giuliani as "Drag Queen Rudia." And if anybody wants to get tweaked-out by that, let 'em, I say!!!

  67. Posted by W_M_BEAR 12/02/2007 @ 12:07am

    Bear,

You bring up good points. Hey, when both Gore and Kerry ran against W, they didn't bring up the fact that W had a DUI on his record. How come there wasn't some group of mothers against drunk drivers funding commercials against Bush saying that he was a potential killer on the road. You know damn well that if it had been a democratic counter part running with a DUI on his record, the rethugs would have had adds splashed all over the air waves, newspapers, schools and wherever else they could put the word out.

And then there was Bush's lack of military service during the Vietnam war. They attacked Kerry's record, but Kerry actually served in combat where W sat it out in the reserve units and didn't even follow through with that obligation. THen again, Bush probably is a hero in the rethug ranks because most of them completely sat the Vietnam war out. Both Gore and Kerry have military records that prove they served, while we have the chicken hawks W, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeldt, Rice, Bremmer etc.

Then there's the fact that pretty much every business W ran failed. Cheney was and is affiliated with Halliburton, but that was rarely brought up if ever. No conflict of interest was brought up about both of their ties to the defense industry as well as the oil industry.

But, try to convince the right wing war mongers of this.

I've got enough on my hands in the US fighting the Neanderthals in their attempts to sub-humanize my gay friends. Unlike you, I feel no need to send others traipsing around the world in a vain attempt to make Them like Us. Somehow,I think pulling the Islamists out of the Dark Ages is going to be a harder struggle than pulling the Evangelicals out. If the fundies here ever get it, then maybe I will turn my attention to the Muslim clerics. But, by then I will be an even older man.

But, I see Australia has a thriving economy, so I would expect you to still want to volunteer to take up the slack of the exiting Aussies in Iraq. But you won't fight in the struggle you say is the defining one of our times, will you LeeRoy?

I am also willing to bet you could get The RIO's and Luvvys of this country to agree to those Ba-athist laws.

For instance, it was not long ago that the cons banned interracial marriage, and many around here would love to see that again. (LUVVY is NOT one of those people, SLIVER is) Most states have banned the equal joining of two same sex adults. The Christian Right caused the FCC to fine TV stations for "lewd behavior" because Janet Jackson showed most of her breast.

President of the Christian Coalition of America Roberta Combs said, "Although legislation introduced in Congress to increase penalties for repeated offenses to $7.5 million per offense is a good start, Christian Coalition agrees with Mr. Michael Copps, one of the FCC Democrat commissioners that station licenses for repeated obscenity offenses should be revoked. The FCC itself has to accept most of the blame for last night's immoral broadcast on CBS. The FCC, with a 3 Republican member majority, has refused to punish the television networks for allowing the use of the F-word and for other outrageous behavior during the past year. And these so-called entertainers have taken advantage of the lack of oversight by the FCC."

Mrs. Combs said, "Congress needs to move aggressively to pass legislation which will finally and severely sanction those individuals and broadcasting companies and stations which violate decency standards. The American people demand it."

There is a reason I call the american Taliban, they have much in common with their perceived enemies. It was only a few short years ago , 2003, that anti-sodomy laws were tossed out in this country. 12 states had laws on the books banning sodomy and or oral sex. How "progressive" is that?

"The court allowed the right to privacy to trump the compelling interest the state has in promoting the family interests of right and wrong," Falwell said. "It just says that privacy permits anything between consenting adults. It would actually makes bestiality legal if it's taken to the limits or privacy."

Jay Squires, a lawyer and the publisher of the Web site gayrichmond.com, said the ruling removed a huge roadblock to gays obtaining equal rights.

"Until today, I could have been arrested for a felony and sentenced to up to five years in prison for an act of intimacy with my partner of 15 years," Squires said.

Lets start a new game, we will call it Texas or Iraq. Maybe compare laws of the two places and see who is the most backward. I don;t think you will be pleasantly surprised.

  93. Texas or Iraq?

In 1943, it passed a law42 that followed the laws of Ohio (q.v.), Iowa (q.v.), and Nebraska (q.v.) in outlawing fellatio, but not cunnilingus,

Also in 1943, ? enacted a broad law against vagrancy. Among the new vagrants under the law were anyone engaging in "lewdness," with no specification as to the "lewdness" occurring in public, and anyone who resided in or remained in any place "for the purpose of...lewdness[.]"

FYI, in NO WAY do I condone sex in any form with minors by adults. I am no ACOOK. Many of the cases sited here are about minors engaged in fellatio or anal sex which should remain illegal until the age of consent is reached. In the south, that age of consent was as young as 14, as pointed out by our own ACOOK, and who are we to judge the actions of those by-gone days by our standards, according to other neo-cons around here.

    2. No, you haven't "explained it"....what DOES "think Dresden" mean when you said Bush should "take the gloves off" in fighting Islamic terrorism? or do you have some OTHER view of what happened at Dresden?

    Sorry Mask

I actually did post a response yesterday but I cannot remember which thread (too many active threads for an old guy like me). However I did save the response in a Word file; here it is for you.

So...let's ask LL when he comes on. "Do you REALLY mean that you would apply a 'Dresden-like' approach to the War on Terror...or are you simply saying that to elicit a reaction, and your actual approach (if you had the power) would be more tempered?"

    And see what he says.

    Posted by MASK 11/30/2007 @ 11:13am

    Mask,

It seems you have this sanitized view on war. You haven't indicated previously that you are a pacifist so I assume you believe some wars to be necessary.

My Dresden statement is completely consistent with a desire to actually limit unnecessary deaths. It stems from the same views used by the Dresden planners. While all loss of human life is regrettable, tragic, and not to be taken lightly, there are times in war when drastic measures are necessary in order to achieve both the greater good and avoid greater losses from your own forces. I think Dresden then and similar tactics if used now are within that construct. This link below offers a fairly objective analysis of the Dresden bombings.

"I… assume that the view under consideration is something like this: no doubt in the past we were justified in attacking German cities. But to do so was always repugnant and now that the Germans are beaten anyway we can properly abstain from proceeding with these attacks. This is a doctrine to which I could never subscribe. Attacks on cities like any other act of war are intolerable unless they are strategically justified. But they are strategically justified in so far as they tend to shorten the war and preserve the lives of Allied soldiers. To my mind we have absolutely no right to give them up unless it is certain that they will not have this effect. I do not personally regard the whole of the remaining cities of Germany as worth the bones of one British Grenadier. The feeling, such as there is, over Dresden, could be easily explained by any psychiatrist. It is connected with German bands and Dresden shepherdesses. Actually Dresden was a mass of munitions works, an intact government centre, and a key transportation point to the East. It is now none of these things."[54] Arthur "Bomber" Harris, Commander-in-Chief of RAF Bomber Command
