  • While I admire Ms. Viorst's intentions, I must say that I am extremely grateful to Ms. Palin for enabling us to watch the more rapid disintegration of the Republican campaign. Had Senator McCain chosen more wisely, we might be in deep trouble. I am also enjoying the vision of watching her self-destruct as we all need some entertainment these days.

So there should be no need to bother the people Viorst mentioned for their honest opinions. As you may have guessed, I will be voting for Senator Obama, who chose his running mate thoughtfully.

  • Why was McCain permitted to foist this woman on the country as his VP candidate? Where were the leaders of the Republican party when this decision was made? How can the traveled, sophisticated, experienced, highly-educated and dedicated leaders of the Republican Party allow this person to be selected to this critical position?

Judith Viorst is right. It is time for the leaders of the Republican Party to demand that Palin step aside.

  • I would have nothing to add, but I'm watching television, CBS Sunday Morning, here in Maine, and the station--Channel 8 Presque Isle, a Fox affiliate-- just ran a McCain commercial equating Senator Obama with terrorists. Really low-brow, ending with, "I'm John McCain, and I approve this message." The poison in that ad is not just a Palin poison.

Todd is coming to Presque Isle to a business that sells snow sleds--made in Japan.

  • An inability to grasp complex issues? What about an inability to grasp simple, clear issues, like the rule of law? What about professional vs. private? What about the Fifth Amendment, or due process of law, or in simpler terms, "fundamental fairness?" What about "government," itself? How about "eco-no-my?" The Ten Commandments, as in, "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor"? They make much of the depth of her "faith," but you'll not find anyone named Trak or Trig of Bristol or Willow or Piper in the scriptures. You might, certainly, find them in a hardware store. Her ignorance is obscene. Her perception of law is "when they make you stop doing what you want to do." Our prisons are full of the adherents of such a philosophy. Cro-Magnon came to predominate due to the power of his brain (his ability to comprehend his situation and adapt). Is this Palin some form of inverse natural selection? The great patriot John McCain would foist this cruel joke on his country? What happened in that prison camp? Laurence Harvey might have been able to enlighten us, were he still with us.

Oh, yes, i agree with you. End this charade about the bimbo.
