  • Where does the Republican Party stand with regard to Sarah Palin's record on the protection of Alaskan wildlife and Alaskan ecology? The cruel treatment of animals is of great concern to millions of people. Promoting the aerial hunting of wolves and bears, suing the goverment to delist Polar Bears and putting profits ahead of protecting the pristine Alaskan environment are not values that appeal to many voters.

Some people are deciding not to support the Republican ticket after learning of Governor Sarah Palin's record regarding the treatment of wolves, bears, moose and Beluga whales--regardless of how they may feel about other issues.

  • I have heard that Sarah Palin also had a very hard time being mayor and had to hire an administrative manager to actually run her little town of 7,000 people. So if this is true--what the heck executive skills does she have?

    This gets scarier every day!

  • Well done! Along with Philip Gourevitch's "The State of Sarah Palin," in The New Yorker, I think readers will get a fairly accurate view of us.

I can certainly understand how Mary Ann Baker feels. While the natural environment can be breathtakingly beautiful, the political environment can be downright hellish.

Having gone up against the local Republicans (and won!) I know how bitter and isolated you can feel. A beautiful environment without a congenial community is an awfully empty place.

Fortunately, the folks in Palmer saw the big box development in Wasilla and we put a stop to that in our city limits. Palmer's a classic small town built around a central green space. Our seniors have housing developments near the center of town, you can walk to most businesses, and our political demographics are moving back to the center.

Come on up and spend some time with us when the hysteria dies back down!
