  • Getting a handle on this conservative movement is very difficult, because it is anarchistic. Historically, business interests have sought to control government for their benefit, but not to destroy it. As the party of big business, the Republican Party has a very narrow political base. At one time the party included Abolitionists and Progressives, but such people have been driven out. The party is now forced to rely on disinformation and single-issue voters to broaden its base. Now we have this anti-government faction, which may help them get elected, but once elected, they only know how to contract out problems and haven't a clue about governance. Their philosophy doesn't allow them to govern.
