  • I was interested in Webb too. He appeared in a Sunday supplement a couple of weeks ago talking about his Marine Corp days and stint as Secretary of the Navy. He also has a new book out called A Time To Fight, so he is a serious prospect for Vice President. I have just started the book, and I am not encouraged. He talks about his campaign for the Senate, and firmly states that "civil unions" are OK, but marriage is between a man and a woman. This position is based on his "Christian beliefs." Further, while he opposed the Iraq War, but wants to get out of Iraq in a "responsible" way. I'll finish the book, but I don't think it will get any better. I was looking for a person with an "attitide" backed by knowledge, but they don't exist in the Beltway. We are probably looking at another careerist. These people will make so many promises to various interest groups, they won't be able to govern.
