  • Nothing that the Bush Administration did without Congressional approval is legal. Signing statements represent opinion and are not law. The Bush Administration should have been impeached for many violations of federal laws and the Constitution. Waterboarding is cruel and unusual punishment under the Constitution.

Torture and rendition is not allowed by the Geneva Conventions, which has been signed and ratified by Congress. There are various federal laws on the books that forbid these practices by any American citizen inside or outside this country.

Any informal agreement with any nation disappears with the Bush Administration. If any Democrat elected President continues these practices, they should be impeached and prosecuted under the law. A crime is a crime.

We need some Democrats in Congress with some guts, who will defend the Constitution and the rights of the American people and of those who fall under our laws.

We are not responsible for the acts of terrorists, but we are responsible for our own actions.
