The barracks are the remains of the Japanese-American World War II internment camp at Heart Mountain, Wyoming, moved to a site across the street from the Japanese-American National Museum as part of an exhibition on the internment of 120,000 Japanese-Americans from 1942 to 1945. The facts are simple: The government program "relocated" all persons of Japanese ancestry from West Coast cities, moving them into camps in remote areas. Two-thirds of the internees were American citizens. They were never accused or convicted of any crime; their constitutional rights were simply ignored.
