The article discusses the plight of Democrats in the United States to define the goals of their party. The author claims that Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi is a prospective leader for the Democrats. The Democrats should put forth an ambitious plan to jumpstart the economy by investing in people, like combining immediate tax relief for the middle- and low-income families with direct investments in schools and in domestic security and help for the states to avoid layoffs of teachers and firefighters.
