The author of the article argues that the recession the U.S. economy is suffering should be linked with the high cost of the Iraq war. The author points to the book "The Three Trillion Dollar War" by Joseph Stiglitz and Linda Bilmes which states that the cost of the war will be felt for years to come with the costs of veterans' health care and the re-equipping of the military. The author also states that the wealth created by the war goes to only an elite few.
