The article presents information about the books "Anatole France: The Degeneration of a Great Artist," by Barry Cerf and "Rambles With Anatole France," by Sandor Kemeri. The fame of novelist Anatole France is obviously open to an attack, but hardly to one of the sort which Mr. Cerf launches against him. The unorthodox character of France's moral philosophy was surely patent enough to render unnecessary even the elucidation which it received at the beginning of his career, and at this late date it is scarcely effective to label him a sensualist and a cynic.
