The article focuses on the leadership failure of the U.S. government following the September 11 terrorist attacks. The second anniversary of the September 11 attacks marks the failure of the government to take measures to protect its citizen. At home, it failed to provide sufficient funding for homeland security. Meanwhile, the government builds a national security state which suppresses civil liberties and bullies aliens and politically weak groups. In the international front, the war it raged against Iraq strains its international relations with the United Nations and other allies. The war also backfired and fueled anti-Americanism and unleashed chaos and disorder.
